The Details

  • Socratic Arts conducted representative focus groups with junior, mid-level, and senior associates & partners, and analyzed existing skill definitions (when available), then identified global competency areas, leveled skills for each area, and based on these findings – developed a 6-year training roadmap.

  • Focus groups were composed of a representative sampling of associates and partners across firm practice areas and office locations. All were interviewed using a set of structured questions.

  • The skills framework identified six competency areas (with associated skills, behaviors, and traits at each tenure level) including: communication, time management & project excellence, delegation & feedback, presenting & presence, teaming & building teams, and building relationships.

  • Based on the strength of the needs analysis and framework, firm leadership greenlit the development of a 6-year curriculum for associates.
